Dogs, all of us. Just plain simple street dogs.

I was following a Blog on Reuters: (Pakistan: now or never?). You can find the same by clicking the hyperlink.

I was outraged, lesser by the Blog and more by the comments that followed. If you have some free time (loads of it :p ), go through it and then through the comments.

What follows is what I wrote as a comment. Please read and comment here. I guess it will be an interesting thing to debate.

I am a ‘common man’ and will speak for the common man.

As I said in my last post, when we talk about “WAR”, nuclear-biological weapons supremacy, who-is-who in Asia, who gave Sri-Lanka weapons to kill (and take pride in that), where are we going? What are we? Did you say humans, the so called most ‘intelligent’ form of life on earth? BS.

This territoriality, self assumed supremacy, and our chauvinism just reminds me of the ’street-dogs’. I always wonder why in the world they have such a huge ‘issue’ with ‘my-place’. We call ourselves an advanced species, but have we, really, moved ahead of the same mammalian instincts that we had millions of years ago?

I have two parents. Each had two. That makes a total of four. each had two and hence eight parents. If you go on like this, say for few 100 levels, and think the same about every human alive, GOSH, we will have more parents than the total no of life forms ever on the planet. How is that possible?
It is possible because all of us, some time in the past had a common parent. We are all brothers and sisters, born out of the same primates that emerged in Africa some million years ago. I don’t know how then, we are Americans, Russians, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, and everything that can still divide.

I feel pity for our short sightedness. I see a wretched 80 year old in my streets, hungry, begging. I see a 6 month old dying of hunger because her parents can’t find work to feed her. I see a corrupt policeman, taking bribe from a drunk driver and letting him go. And then I see the nuclear bombs. I see ‘big people’ talking about billion dollar deal with Israel for a radar technology to counter the ‘missile’ threat. I hear about Taliban blowing up a suicide bomber in Islamabad and killing scores of innocent people. I hear about millions of people in Pakistan displaced due to war in SWAT. I see Tamil tigers blowing up innocent Sri-Lankan’s. I see dead bodies of tamils, shattered in the war to uncountable pieces. I see hungry, sick, weak people. And I feel WOW..!!! We are humans.

I love Chinese food (more than half of India does). Chinese love Taj-mahal. Indians listen to urdu songs and fall in love. Pakistanis love Bollywood (and Shahrukh-Khan). Indians wear Levi’s jeans. Americans use Indian software. A common man loves peace, food for their children and a happy life.
And then, again. India should be ready for Chinese bombs. Pakistan should have Nukes to counter India. Sri-Lanka needs Chines arms.

Dogs, all of us. Just plain simple street dogs.

I just Love this world…!!!!

MOM: I Love You..!!!!

Mom, I love you.
And I know, you Love me too.
You have always been there for me.
You have always been with me.
I did pee on your expensive saree.
I did break your most cherished flower pot.
I did give you more pain than any one else can ever give you.
I did make you cry.
But I know, you still Love me.
And you will always Love me.

Mom, I love you too.

Mother is an amazing 'thing'(let me call her that for the moment), ain't it? We are born out-of-her. We are, so to speak, a part of her body. An inseparable part. We do come out and become two separate 'things'. But our hearts, continue to beat for each other. We love her, and she loves us. I happen to believe that a mother child relationship (I am not being biased to the father child relationships, more of this later ) is the most sacred of all 'relationships' known to man, and I am sure most of us do agree (at least) on this one.

Ever wondered why, in almost every popular language (surely in the ones I know), a mother is called with a sound similar to 'M'? Mother, Mom, MAA, MATA, AMMA, MUMY, mère (french), mamá (spanish), мать, мама, матушка, мамаша (russian). Or why a kid learns to say 'maa'(or the corresponding word in her 'mother' tounge),before anything else, across the world? Why not say, papa or dad (poor fathers, I sympathy you)? May be it's because when we drink our mother's milk, the most natural sound that comes out has the 'M', beautifully crafted in it. The child, unknowingly (or knowingly) learns to speak his 1st word, and it becomes his most cherished word, forever.

Such a beautiful relation, such a selfless bond is non existent in any other form of (human) relationship. The child wants her/his mom, every second. In her closeness, in the warmth of her body, in the smell of her sweat, in the touch of her hands, in the smile on her face, the child discovers happiness and a feeling of fulfillment. Some scientists have predicted, that a child, with her almost developed ear system, can listen to her mom's voice, even when she is just 7 month's old (2 month's before she is born). No wonder, a child can easily differentiate between a granny and her mom :-).

Mother, on her part does her best she can to love her child as much as she can. If there was a way to love more, no doubt, she will love more. A mother takes care of her kid, selflessly, without expectations, without asking for anything in return. She goes through so much pain, so much blood, only a mother knows whats it like to bring up a child. Deeply in love, she showers everything she has; her life, her feelings, every bit of her; as if, dying to just fall in love, more, every day.

As we grow up, she teaches us to differentiate between the 'good' and the 'bad'. She is our first, true, teacher. Remember your mom teaching you the rhymes which defined our childhood? She grows with us, she is a child when we are child and a friend when we grow up. Slowly, somewhere in between, our childhood friend becomes our mentor, our guide, our spinal chord in every decision we take. She makes uncountable sacrifices, for us, and yes (unlike your spouse), she never counts them. She is still, in deep love, as always.

The food she cooks has so much love filled in every bit of it, it simply dwarfs the expensive lunches you may have at a five star resort. She is amazingly 'perfect' at everything you can think of. She is our Idol, in a sense. Guys usually want their wives to have the 'values' his mom has. Girls strive to be 'like-mom'. Mother's too, finds her child (now grown-ups) the 'best' in the whole world. They may be fat, but you ask a mother, and she will always give you ten reasons why her child is 'so weak'. The beauty of Love, surpasses every other form of a beauty, in its sheer selflessness, intensity and quality.

WOW..!!!

As I write this, and co-relate it with my mother (am sure you are co-relating with your mom too :-) ), I feel so blessed to be born to her. It's because of her that I (and you) exist. All the beauty of this world, you can see today is because she gave birth to you and nourished you, with her blood. The gift that no one else but your mother could have given you; And she did give a lot more. You know that :-)

As you read this, and if you feel the way I am feeling right now, call your mom (or go to her if you stay with her) and say "thank-you" for all she has done for you. Just call her and say "I love you". She knows that alright, but just once, do it. May be, it will bring a smile on her face. You know she deserves that smile. Don't you?

The Gift called Life.

Life, is marvelous. Life is beautiful. Life is Intelligent.
Every one you know, every one you love, every one you can think of shares this gift, with you, on the little blue planet called earth.
How life came into existence may still be debatable, but not that its the best 'accident' that has ever happened. Think of the refinement of every single cell of human body, think how efficiently your blood clots when you get a cut (instead of you bleeding to death), think of the beauty you can see because you have a pair of binocular eyes, think of the music you can listen to because of the superb stereophonic ears, think of the machinery which extracts energy out of food and your breathing of oxygen, and the mother (or father) of everything, your brain. All I can say, is WOW!!

Humans, are the most intelligent form of life known (yet), they are surely very-very complex and fairly advanced in there biological and chemical functions. However, even the simple forms of life, lets say even a humble one celled organism is, in itself, quite a masterpiece of engineering. The most sophisticated machines ever made by man, are by far, hardly a match for the sophistication of the natural machinery of life.

Every time I see a Life form, I wonder, how feeble, how small we are in comparison to the 'great designer'(more on this on the blogs to follow). Beauty, of the machinery, however lies not just at the bottom of the architecture, but at the macro level as well. Think how well balanced the various cycles of CO2, O2 etc is. Imagine how plants breathe CO2 and give O2 as a waste, animals which in turn breathe O2 and give out CO2. The plants converting sunlight, the only true source of energy to life, into food, and us, the animals, the parasites, deriving our food from plants, directly or indirectly.

In this great design, species using each other's wastes and co-existing, Life has thrived for the last 4 billion years (more about this later).

Well, this is all we already know. This is what they teach in elementary science. Whats the point, writing it all here? I don't know. I felt may be in our earthly en devours of who is who and what you got, in our hatred towards each other and self assumed supremacy , we at times, forget that every one is special, that every human, every animal, and every plant is as precious as anything can ever be.

a butterfly lives for one day and thinks its forever. We poor creatures (humans), live for few thousand days and think, it is, forever. We divide ourselves. We are Americans, Russians, Chinese, Indians, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, White, Black, North Indian, South Indian, Tamil, Kannada, Rich, Poor, Powerful, Downtrodden and every thing that can still divide. Some where, some day, we forgot the beauty of life. We forgot that this tiny little earth that all of us share, together, is nothing but a small stage in the vast cosmic arena, 70-80 years of life, an infinitesimally small fraction of the vastness of space and time. How justifiable is our behavior for a momentary glory in the fraction of a dot?

Think about all that we do. Think about the hatred and angst we have, for 'others'. Think about the relevance of it all. Just give it a minute and contemplate on why can't we be all, just like life has been for million of years, passionately in Love with each other and truly be the only 'intelligent' form of life known, yet.

Another Blogger?

Yet another blogger, trying his luck on the internet? Well, not quite. My blog won't cater to a large audience and will never be popular beyond a point. I am here just to share my thoughts with those friends who care.
I hope I don't disappoint my readers. comments are most welcome. Happy reading :)
